    Several members of the SHPO team will be providing training and information on
    topics such as the National Register, Main Street Program, Tax Credits, and

    local preservation partners.

    Will stop in Washington City for an introduction. Will stop in St. George to visit the
    Juanita Brooks sculpture. Will stop at the old County Courhouse to see the
    “Mountain Meadows: Remembrance and Reconciliation” friendship quilt. And then
    go out to Mountain Meadows.

The Annual Swiss Days in Santa Clara
    This year there will be even more history with the addition of the founding families
    booths. You are invited to come and visit with the descendants of the Swiss founders.
    You are also invited to come to a $7 kickoff dinner on Thursday night. The Santa Clara
    Historical society has purchased an Alpine horn and hopes to have it played during
    Swiss days.
Parking is off site and a shuttle ride is required. Follow signs to park and participate
    in the town celebration.

Dedication of Two Monuments at the Escalante #2 Oil Well Explosion Site
    There will be a dedication of two new monuments at the site of the 1935 explosion of the
    Escalante #2 Oil Well. Ten people were tragically killed and they are being honored with
    a large monument.
This will take place at 375 Quality Drive, at the northwest end next to the Fort Pierce
    Industrial Park on South River Road in St. George.
