    Lecture: "Seed to Shawl" with Linda Murie and Janet Smith
    A demonstration by two Weaving Guild members about the production of cotton textiles.
    Demonstrating weaving and spinning techniques.

    Youth groups from the Cedar Band and the Shivwits Band of Paiutes will share
    their talents. This event was postponed from 12/14/2021.

    you can do.

Juanita Brooks Statue Unveiling Ceremony
    The Washington County Historical Society has had a project to create a full-size bronze
    statue honoring Juanita Brooks. That project is now completing and the statue will be
    unveiled for the public on March 19.

    This used to be an annual event prior to COVID and we are excited to be able

Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) 3rd Weekend Event
    The Fertile Dirt Band (Interactive Bluegrass)
    This is an audience interactive bluegrass band utilizing the musical instruments
    that were available in the days of the pioneers. The audience will recreate that
    pioneer music sound with washboards, spoons, cow bells, jugs, washtub bass and
    bending saws.

Washington County Fair
    Members of the Washington County Historical Society will be at the Washington
    County Fair. Come learn more about the history of our area. See what exciting
    events are coming up. Be sure you are on our mailing list. Enter a drawing to
    be given a unique T-shirt, only available at the Pioneer Courthouse.
    There will also be representatives from the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the
    Sons of Utah Pioneers, and Historic St. George Live.

Silver Reef Museum 4th Saturday Cosmopolitan Event
    "When Women ran Kanab...", a charming vignette in which a group of local Kanab
    women portray the historical 1912-14 All Women Town Council as they re-enact
    events during the Kanab's "Year of Celebration".

    Local educator, journalist, and author Reuben Wadsworth will speak on the
    Dominguez-Escalante Expedition. This will be a great opportunity for learning
    about some of our local history.

Pioneer Courthouse Lecture Series
    Come learn more about the Mormon Battalion formed in 1846 at the request
    of the U.S. Government to help with the Mexican American War. Several of
    our early settlers in southern Utah were members. The Battalion participated
    in the longest military march in U.S. History. Mary Ann Kirk, a member of
    the Mormon Battalion Association will share her insights with us.
