Juanita Brooks Statue Unveiling Ceremony
    The Washington County Historical Society has had a project to create a full-size bronze
    statue honoring Juanita Brooks. That project is now completing and the statue will be
    unveiled for the public on March 19.

    The Fertile Dirt Band (Interactive Bluegrass)
    This is an audience interactive bluegrass band utilizing the musical instruments
    that were available in the days of the pioneers. The audience will recreate that
    pioneer music sound with washboards, spoons, cow bells, jugs, washtub bass and
    bending saws.

    Come learn more about the Mormon Battalion formed in 1846 at the request
    of the U.S. Government to help with the Mexican American War. Several of
    our early settlers in southern Utah were members. The Battalion participated
    in the longest military march in U.S. History. Mary Ann Kirk, a member of
    the Mormon Battalion Association will share her insights with us.

    Easy hike: A stroll along the canal trail above Hurricane City.
    Intermediate hike: Hike along part of the canal in the canyon as well as an ascent
        to Panorama Point.
    Strenuous hike: This hike follows most of the canal's course, 5.7 miles.
