HISTORY

On the original St. George map, the north half of the block was for the St. George Hall and then George
Thurston. The south half of the block was for the Tithing Office. Over the years, the property was subdivided
and went through a number of owners and tenants as shown above.

The Bishop's Storehouse building was later used for a potato chip business. Then it was use for the
McArthur's Quality Bakery. It also housed a bottling plant run by Neil & Loren Lundberg.

At one point (approximately 1962), 25 Main Street was a vacant piece of property with a bill board located on it.
When Beth Hurst had her business on the corner of Tabernacle and Main Street (Hurst Variety Store), her son
Ross wanted to have an outdoor lunch and dinner business with tables and chairs for the college students.
That business stayed for a while.

Then the decision was made to build a dress shop at the 25 Main location. About 1973, Jim McArthur along
with a builder demolished the leg part of the L-shaped bakery building. They built a dress shop known as the
Chantilly Dress Shop. The owners were Ken & Melanie Olsen. Later, Melanie taught school and eventually
became Principal at West Elementary School while Ken ran the dress shop.

Later the Dress shop moved across the street and then closed. Following that, Moke Sports moved into the
building for a while.

Later there was a desire to build a restaurant at the 25 Main location. It was the TwentyFive Main Cafe & Cake
Parlor (Adam Legg was a part owner?). That business was eventually closed down.

The 25 Main building is now vacant. The owners are anticipating a new restaurant at that location.
Jason Neeley and his associates are planning a BBQ business there soon.
