BIOGRAPHYThe Alsops moved to Virgin about 1920 to aid in the development of a shallow oil field there.Mr. Alsop was a pioneer oil operator with wide experience drilling in South America, California, and Utah oil bearing formations. In 1927, Alsop was hired as General Manager of the newly formed Arrowhead Petroleum Corporation. He resigned his previous position at General Manager of the Utacal Oil Company and disposed of his private oil interests. Charles and Mabel were both killed in the premature explosion of the Escalante Oil Well on March 6, 1935. They were both buried in the St. George City Cemetery on March 10, 1935. FAMILY
