BIOGRAPHYNils Mansson "Neils" Capson was born on May 30, 1816 in Sweden.At 35 years of age, Nils met the Mormon missionaries in Copenhagen Denmark. He was baptized by Elder John E. Forsgren on December 27, 1851 and was confirmed by Apostle Erastus Snow on December 30. Nils was called on a mission to Sweden and served there for a short time, before being arrested and banished from his native land. Nils emigrated to America in 1854. While crossing the Atlantic, he married Gustava Amelia Lundstrom (aka Gustafva; sometimes mispelled Amalia ?), whom he had baptized in Copenhagen. They crossed the plains and arrived in Salt Lake City on September 7, 1854. In the fall of 1861, Capson family was called to the Cotton Mission in southern Utah. They settled in Virgin, Utah Territory, where they farmed and raised cattle. Nils died in Virgin of pneumonia on September 10, 1863. He was originally buried up on the hill about the little town of Virgin but was later moved to Plot 03-56-06 of the Gunnison Cemetery in Gunnison, Sanpete County, Utah. Gustava was left a widow with three young children. Friends helped them resettle in Gunnison where she spent the rest of her life. Gustava died in Gunnison of a mitrial lesion of the heart on August 16, 1914. She was buried in Plot 03-56-05 of the Gunnison Cemetery. FAMILY
