GENERAL IMPACTS

Many people could not visit sick or dying relatives in the hospital or nursing homes.
High school spring sports were canceled.
There were a number of full and partial school closures. Some education was handled remotely.
Many public buildings were partially or completely closed for a time:
    Washington City Hall, Washington Community Center, ...
Indoor dining at restaurants was prohibited for a time.
    Restaurants began dramatically increasing the use of take out, drive-thru, curbside delivery,
    delivery services, and various no contact techniques.
The wearing of face masks in public and social distancing rules were strongly encouraged
    and made mandatory in certain places and for certain periods of time.
Mandates caused some controversy among the public (individual rights vs public safety).
The common wearing of masks made identification of criminals more difficult.
Many meetings, lectures, tours, and other activities were canceled.
Video conferencing took off in popularity to reduce the need for in-person meetings.


SPECIFIC IMPACTS

The Juanita Brooks Lecture was postponed from 4/1/2020 and eventually just made available online.
39th Annual Cotton Festival was canceled, 4/21-26/2020.
The Ironman 70.3 St. George Triathlon was postponed from May to September and then canceled.
Santa Clara Swiss Days was canceled, 9/24-26/2020.
44th Annual St. George Marathon was canceled, 10/3/2020.
34th Annual Hunstman World Senior Games was canceled, 10/5-17/2020.
DocUtah was postponed from 11/2-7/2020 to 3/1-6/2021.
Snow Canyon Half Marathon canceled, 11/7/2020.
Sunriver Veterans Park Veterans Day celebration was canceled, 11/11/2020.
Washington City Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony canceled, 11/11/2020.
Skillz and Thrillz Challenge canceled, 11/14/2020.
Seegmiller Farm Harvest Days & Turkey Trot canceled, 11/21/2020.
Christmas & Santa Dash canceled, 11/30/2020.
4th Annual St. George Literary Arts Festival canceled and a book of poetry and art was produced instead.
Dixie State University terminated their women's basketball season prematurely, 1/5/2021.
