WASHINGTON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY (Washington County, Utah)PERSONAL STORIES ABOUT THE PANDEMIC OF 2020(THE CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 PANDEMIC)in Washington County, Utah |

INVITATIONThere can be no doubt that we are living through an historic time. But it too often happens that ordinary peopleliving in extraordinary times neglect to write down their experiences and observations for posterity. Life, as we each cope with the effects of COVID 19, may seem to be lacking in excitement or great significance, but future generations will want to know what it was like to live in such an unprecedented time. For this reason, the Washington County Historical Society invites you to send us a short account (one or two paragraphs) of what it is like for you personally to be living through this time. We will collect and preserve these accounts on a dedicated page on our Historical Society website which will be accessible to all. These accounts will be interesting for readers now, but we guarantee that they will be much more interesting for readers in fifty years! Whether we like it or not, we are making history right now. Please tell us a little of your personal pandemic story. You may email your paragraphs to info@wchsutah.org. Paragraphs from people of all ages will be welcome and please let us know whether or not we can include your name. In addition, The J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah has a digital archive where Utah residents can share stories and photos of their experiences relating to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. This is a more extensive project than what we had in mind, but it is an important historical project and we recommend supporing it. For information: click here and click here. Please copy us on any Washington County history contributions to that project. STORIESValerie B. Johnson, 6/8/2020 |
