BIOGRAPHY
Warren Wilford "Wil" Hardy was born on September 3, 1840 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts.Warren's parents were early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and moved to Missouri
around 1850 in preparation for their journey to the Utah Territory. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on
August 11, 1852. Josiah and the Hardy family were called to settle southern Utah in 1862. They settled in
Mountain Dell.
Warren met Caroline Lucy Blake in Mountain Dell and they were married on April 10, 1866 in the Salt Lake
Endowment House.
On April 26, 1975, Warren entered into polygamy by marrying Sarah Hannah Smith in the Salt Lake
Endowment House.
Then on December 2, 1879, Warren married a third wife, Martha Aurelia Johnson, in the new St. George Temple.
Around 1882, Caroline left the marriage. She fell in love with and left, leaving her young children behind.
In 1888, Warren (and many other polygamists) were arrested, tried, and sentanced to prison. Warren served
6 months and was released on December 2, 1888.
Warren died on November 22, 1893 in St. George and was buried in Plot A_A_10_1 of the
St. George City Cemetery.
