BIOGRAPHYMelancthon Wheeler Burgess & Margaret Jane McIntire were married by President Brigham Young in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City on April 10, 1855.In the October 1861 L.D.S. General Conference, they were called to the Dixie Cotton Mission. They came to St. George in the first company of settlers, arriving in December of 1861. Melancthon built the first house in St. George. FAMILY
