BIOGRAPHY
John Stiles Shipley was born in Howe Valley, Hardin County, Kentucky on November 6, 1905.John was appointed Second Lieutenant in the ROTC Regiment at the University of Kentucky on
February 2, 1929.
John married Henrietta Dorothy Schweimler in Jeffersonville, Indiana on September 29, 1929.
Capt. Shipley was commanding officer of the Leeds CCC Camp in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Capt. Shipley served on active duty in the U.S. Army from March 14,1942 until January 21, 1946.
Later, John became a high school teacher and principal in Kentucky.
John died in Pleasure Ridge Park, Jefferson County, Kentucky on March 8, 1993.
