BIOGRAPHY[Note: The last name was frequently misspelled as Flickenger, Fleckinger, Flitchinger, ...]Chester M. Flickinger was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1884. He was the soon of Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Flickinger. His father was an oil man and C.M. followed that career. C.M. came from Long Beach to work in the Virgin Oil Fields about 1932. C.M.'s wife was Margaret M. Flickinger and they were living in Virgin with their two children. C.M. was employed by the Arrowhead Petroleum Corporation. He was the driller and powder man supervising shooting of the Escalante Well 5 miles south of St. George when it exploded on March 6, 1935. He was an expert in his line of work and was brought in at an unusually high salary. C.M. was one of the 10 people killed when the well exploded. Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 8, 1935. He was buried in Plot C-3-3-6 at the St. George City Cemetery. FAMILY
