BIOGRAPHY
Alexander Findlay Macdonald (sometime spelled McDonald) was born September 15, 1825 in Highland, Scotland.Alexander & Elizabeth G immigrated to America from Scotland in the spring of 1854. Alexander found employment in Springville, Utah and the family lived there for seven years.
Alexander's marriage to Sarah Johnson was short and she had no children with Alexander. Members of her family took her forcibly to Nevada where she married another man. She had two daughters in Nevada, and she and the children died soon after. Very little is known about her except that she was tall, blonde, beautiful, and was born in 1839 in Liverpool, England.
In 1866, Alexander was called to St. George to manage the construction of the St. George Temple and take charge of the Church tithing and dispensing office. He employed workers idled by a shortage of materials for the St. George Temple.
From 1877-1879, Alexander and his sons, Aaron and Alec?, went on a mission to Scotland.
Alexander was called to move to Mesa City and served as the stake president and mayor there.
Alexander died on March 21, 1903 in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was buried in the Colonia Dbulan Cemetery in Colonia Dublan, Nuevo Casas Grandes Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico.
