LOCATION135 South 100 EastSt. George, UT 84770 HISTORYThis home was built in the early 1870s by master builder, Benjamin Frederick Blake, for his son, Frederick Blake. The walls are three adobes thick. Original tiles frame the several fireplaces and there were secret drawers for valuables.Frederick lived here with his second wife, Emily Green, and their five children until 1892. BIOGRAPHYBenjamin Frederick Blake was a master builder of fine furniture and was known for building the unbraced Tabernacle staircases.Frederick Blake was the son of Benjamin Frederick Blake. He came to Dixie with his parents at age 19. He was married to Eliza Barnett and Emily Green and had five children with each. Seven of those children died young, but his son, Wallace Blake, and daughters, Sarah and Emily, survived. Benjamin worked in sawmills supplying lumber for the St. George Temple and Tabernacle and for his father's carpentry shops.
