LOCATION

The Comanche Dam is located at the confluence of Straight Canyon Creek and Comanche Creek within T 38S, Range 13W, Section 21 at an elevation of 5,380 feet.


FEATURES

The Comanche Dam is a rock structure with concrete cap. A large corrugated metal pipe is present near the base of the feature to allow some of the water from Comanche Creek to pass through. The dam is about 10 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide, constructed of broken rock.


HISTORY

Comanche Dam was constructed as part of the Work Projects Administration (WPA) projects in the area. Work was supervised by Marion Prince after completion of the Comanche Ditch. This dam was built as a catchment area for the ditch system.
