The caption on the back of the photograph said:
The Apex Mine was located in the mountains west of St. George. In 1890, the firm of Woolley, Lund, and Judd
acquired the mine and copper was successfully mined there until after World War I. It supplied many with work
at mining, freighting, making charcoal, and smelting, and helped the local economy considerably.
