BIOGRAPHYWilliam David Watts was born May 22, 1860.Nancy Christina Wats was born August 25, 1855 in Chester County, South Carolina. Nancy was previously married to: 1) James Goodwin Patterson; they had a daughter, Elizabeth Jane (Lizzie) Patterson. 2) Robert Detan (Devton?); they had a daughter, Lena Laura Detan. On December 2, 1883, William David Watts and Nancy Christina Watts were baptized by Elder Joseph Willey. They were also confirmed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. William David Watts was a Catawba Indian. Starting in 1887-1890, large number of Catawba joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and some migrated west. David and his wife, Nancy Christine, and well as David's parents, Evan & Lucy Quash-Marsh Watts, settled in New Harmony sometime between 1888 and 1891. Note: The spelling of "Watts" and "Wats" appear to have been used interchangeably. Other names listed here were also not consistently spelled. FAMILY
