DESCRIPTION

The foundation was made of lava rock with the walls of sandstone.
The early residents of this area learned that sandstone in the ground would gradually dissolve and crumble.


HISTORY

This home was built in the early 1900s by the Foster family.
They rented it out to sharecroppers from about 1910 to 1916.

Erastus William ("Rass" or "Rasmus") & Florence Averett Cooper sharecropped and lived here.
Evan Erastmus Cooper was born here on February 14, 1915 and live here for quite a while.

Orman LaMond & Mildred Viola Murray Wilkins sharecropped and lived here in 1936.
Glenna Fern Wilkins was living here when she met and married Evan Cooper.

The 41 acre property, including the old house, is currently for sale.
