The Welte Brewery in Silver Reef was owned and operated by Pete & Leo Welte. According to TavernTrove.com, Pete ran it from 1878-1884 and Leo ran it from 1884 to 1888. It was closed in 1888.The pavilion next to the brewery was used for various events. On May 1, 1882, the public school May-day festival was held there.
