Ivins Historical Society for the preservation of the Adobe Post Office,
located on 200 East and just north of Center Street in Ivins.
This Post Office was the first home of Weston and Fern McArthur Hafen when they moved to Ivins on April 26, 1934. It later became the second post office in Ivins, but the first adobe post office when Fern was appointed acting post master on January 1, 1939 when Lula S. Tobler resigned. On June 2, 1939 Fern was commissioned post master of Ivins, Utah. Under the direction of Scoutmaster Troy Dennett, Flint and Jayden restored the outside of the Ivins Post Office for their Eagle Scout Project. A $1000 grant from the Washington County Historical Society supported the beginning of the restoration. The State of Utah, Department of Commerce granted a Certificate of Registration to the Ivins Historical Society on June 2, 2006. |
