HISTORY

The Washington County Water Conservancy District (WCWCD) was created by court decree in 1962 to provide and manage water for Washington County.

In August 2009, the WCWCD moved from its offices at 100 East on Skyline Drive where they had been located for about 13 years. Their new offices are at 533 East Waterworks Drive, St. George (located off Skyline Drive). The new office has 23,000 sq. ft., 19,000 sq. ft. more than the old building. There is on enough land for further expansions if needed, although the new building is expected to accommodate the water district's needs for about 50 years. The building, without furnishings cost approximately $4.2 million and about $5 million when completed. Money came from a reserve fund that was built up over a number of years These funds came from big water years which brought increased revenue from hydro power. No impact fee money was used for the building.
