BIOGRAPHYWilliam Holland was born November 28, 1847 in Stockport, Cheshire, England.Emma Goodfellow was born December 6, 1850 in Dukinfield, Cheshire, England. Her parents never married. Emma and her mother lived with Emma's maternal grandparents. William married Emma on April 17, 1869 in Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts. After Emma regained her health after the birth of their third child, the Hollands crossed the plains to the Great Salt Lake Valley. They settled in Hamilton Fork, about 6 miles southwest of Cedar City. In 1879 or 1880, they moved to Silver Reef where William was a miner for the remainder of his life. William died July 1, 1889 and was buried in the Cedar City Cemetery. Emma remained in Silver Reef and ran a boarding house until the ore ran out. Sometime between 1888 and 1990 Emma moved to Cedar City. She married William "Bill" Dix in 1891 and lived in Cedar City with him, four of his children, and two of her own. Emma died December 26, 1912 and was buried in Plot A-US-4-2 of the Cedar City Cemetery. FAMILY
