BIOGRAPHYThomas Porter Durrant, Jack or T.P. Durrant as he was commonly called, was born in Darby, Teton County, Idahoon June 28, 1906. Thomas received his first camera at an early age from his mother who was a photographer. He too developed a love of photography. As a young man, he traveled all over taking pictures and earning a living at it. Marilyn Jane Minor was born in Magrath, Alberta, Canada on December 20, 1921. On one of his photography trips, Thomas met Marilyn Minor. They were married on June 21, 1943 on the steps of the Cardston, Alberta LDS Temple. A year later they were sealed in that same temple. They moved to the United States and lived in Bingham Canyon, Utah for a while. There Thomas opened his own Fox Photo business. The Durrant family moved to St. George in 1955. In November of that year, T.P. purchased the Dixie Photo Studio on the main floor of the Arrowhead Hotel from Mr. Rollins. He renamed it the Dixie Studio & Camera Shop of St. George. In 1964, T.P. moved his photo business next door to the building at 34 East Tabernacle. The family lived upstairs in that building using the address, 34 1/2 East Tabernacle. Marilyn died in St. George on May 11, 2010 and was buried on May 15 in the St. George City Cemetery. T.P. died in St. George on October 12,1999 and was buried on October 16 in Plot B-3-8-6 of the St. George City Cemetery. FAMILY
