BIOGRAPHYMary Morris was born June 2, 1916 in St. George, where she grew up. She graduated from Dixie High Schooland Dixie Jr. College. She also attended the University of Southern California, Stanford, and the University of Utah. She married John J. "Jack" Phoenix, Jr. in St. George. He was a well known Standard Oil Distributor. After Jack died in 1962, Mary taught English and Drama at Dixie High School. She retired in ????. Mary passed away at age 82 on December 22, 1998 at the St. George Care Center. On December 28, she was buried in Plot C-26-9-2 at the St. George City Cemetery. FAMILY
