BIOGRAPHYGeorge Prince was born in Fordham, Cambridge, England on December 22, 1815. He lived there with his family until he was twenty-six years of age.The family then moved to South Africa to settle. The English government was giving away tracts of land in South Africa to all married men as a means of making settlements, so Richard Prince took advantage of this offer and moved his family there. The Prince family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in February of 1855. They gave up their land, home, and herds in exchange for passage to America. They left Africa on the sailing vessel, Alacrity, on April 5, 1860. They arrived in Boston after three months on the water. They left Florence, Nebraska on July 20, 1860 with the William Budge Immigration Co. wagon train. They arrived in Salt Lake City from South Africa on October 5, 1860 and settled in Kaysville, Utah Territory. They moved to Utah's Dixie in 1862 to build up the little town of Middleton. FAMILY
