BIOGRAPHY
Ebenezer Bryce was born in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland on November 17, 1830.
Mary Ann Park was born in Warwich, Kent, Canada on January 24, 1837.
He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized on March 15, 1848. He was the
only member of his family to join the church and was disowned by his father.
He emigrated to the United States in 1848.
Ebenezer married Mary Ann Park in Salt Lake City on April 16, 1854.
They Bryces moved to southern Utah in 1862 and settled in Pine Valley.
Ebenezer designed and oversaw the building of the Pine Valley Chapel in 1868.
The family move to the Paria Valley where his homestead became known as Bryce Canyon.
Bryce Canyon became a national monument in 1923 and a national park in 1928.
In 1880, the Bryce family moved to an area two miles north of Pima, Arizona. The settlement there
was named Bryce in Ebenezer's honor.
Mary died in Bryce, Graham County, Arizona on on April 10, 1897 and was buried in the
Bryce Cemetery.
Ebenezer died in Bryce, Graham County, Arizona on on September 26, 1913 and was buried in the
Bryce Cemetery.
