BIOGRAPHYCharles Henry Bigelow was born on August 26, 1872 in Kilbourne, Mason County, Illinois.Harriet Estelle Ingraham was born on October 16, 1877. Her name is sometimes listed as Hattie or Harriat. Charles was a race car driver. He drove in the 1911 inaugural Indianapolis 500 race and was the earliest born driver to have raced in any Indy 500. Charles was also a travel writer and popularized the first road between Los Angeles and Salt Lake, giving it the name by which it was know for many years, The Arrowhead Trail. Built in various stages around 1910-3, the route was proven definitely in 1915 when Bigelow drove the route repeatedly to publicize its viability. Between 1915 and 1916, he drove the entire route many times in the twin-six Packard he named "Cactus Kate." Charles died on June 8, 1958 in Los Angeles. He was buried in Plot C_29_30_2 of the St. George City Cemetery. Harriet died on February 2, 1963 in Los Angeles?. She was buried in Plot C_29_30_3 of the St. George City Cemetery. FAMILY
