THE DAVID & WILHELMINA CANNON SEGO LILY STATUE PROJECT

Donations Needed - You Can Be a Part

PROJECT PURPOSE

The purpose for creating the David & Wilhelmina Cannon Sego Lily Statue is to draw attention to and educate
the public about the difficulties faced by early pioneers, especially women, in Utah’s Dixie. The struggles and
hardships of this barren land are well documented. The great faith and commitment necessary to stay the course
must have been a constant challenge. David helped Willie find beauty in this land. We use their story to honor
them and the other great pioneers like them who made this desert truly blossom.

PROJECT FUNDING

The life sized 2 figure statue is being funded by voluntary contributions from individuals, Cannon family
members, businesses and other organizations. The estimated cost is $115,000 which is being raised
concurrently with the creation of the statue. Donations are being collected and managed by the Washington
County Historical Society (WCHS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Their Tax Exempt ID Number is
87-0465878. The donations go into a dedicated FDIC-insured bank account at the State Bank of Southern
Utah. The WCHS is not charging for any administrative costs and so all donations go directly to the cost
of the statue. Milestone payments will be made to the well-known southern Utah sculptor, Jerry Anderson.
Progress will be reported on the the Statue Project webpage on the WCHS website.
