LOCATION170 North 3232 East (in the Millcreek Industrial Park)St. George, UT 84790 Owned and operated by the City of St. George (Energy Services Department) HISTORYConstruction on the Millcreek Generation Facility began in May of 2005 and was completed a year later at a cost of approximately $16.9 million. An open house and dedication was held on May 11, 2006. It is a natural gas fired facility. The first generator was a General Electric LM 6000 PD, DLE turbine producing up to 40 megawatts of electrical power. Energy generated from this facility is used primarily to meet the growing summer demand.An expansion to this facility was begun in May of 2009 at a cost of about $47 million. The planned expansion included the addition of two 40 megawatt turbines and facilities to house the staff that operates the facility. One of the new turbines went online in May of 2010.
