HISTORY

The Edmund-Tucker Act (24 Stat. 635) was sponsored by Senator George F. Edmunds of Vermont and Congressman John Randolph Tucker of Virginia. It was approved by Congress on February 19, 1887 and became law on March 3, 1887 without the signature of the President.

The act was finally repealed in 1978.
