LOCATIONSilver Reef, UT37.14675° North Latitude, 113.21870° West Longitude Directions: Go north on Main Street in Leeds to the Oakgrove / Silver Reef road (just off I-15 Exit 24). Take the first road to the left, you will see a Lions Club sign showing the road to the pioneer cemeteries. Take the dirt road and make left turns. The Protestant Cemetery is 2.5 tenths of a mile west of the Lions Club sign. From the Protestant Cemetery, look west to top of hill and you will see the Catholic Cemetery. HISTORYRestoration of the Silver Reef Pioneer Cemeteries was a project of the Lions Club of Leeds. Initial clearing and boundary marking began in January 1998. 192 volunteers amassed 672 work hours on five scheduled Saturdays. Eleven members of the Lions Club of Leeds amassed 398 work hours on nine scheduled workdays. The Chairman amassed 432 hours. Mr. Ray Crosby of Provo donated all of the old barn wood. Enough old barn wood was cleaned and cut to fabricate over 1,100 feet of picket fencing. Included where 170 2 inch x 4 inch x 12 inch rails and 1532 4 inch x 4 inch pickets. They also made over 60 crosses of 2 feet x 6 feet of material to make the unknown grave. They used over 82 6 feet cedar posts, 50 pounds of galvanized nails, and 22 bags of concrete and ceramic tiles from old Mexico road signs.A guest book was was added in 1999. In the Silver Reef Catholic Cemetery, there are 3 graves with tombstones and 15 grave unknown markers.
