HAMBLIN CEMETERY

Hamblin, Utah

LOCATION

Hamblin, UT

Directions:
Take Highway 18 north from St George or south from Enterprise.
Take the Pinto turnoff near Mile Marker 34 and go east.

HISTORY

The cemetery is unique because many of the headstones were carved in the "Desert Alphabet". This phonetic alphabet was introduced to the Mormon people in the first decades after their settlement of Utah Territory. Unfortunately, the stones are so worn that the alphabet is barely recognizable.
