HISTORY

LeRoi Merrill was the building coordinator for volunteer labor. The ward members were responsible for excavating, concrete work, painting, landscaping, and the sprinkler system, and final cleanup.

The members raised their share of the of the building fund through pledges, selling crafts, selling stationary, and other such projects. The Elders Quorum built the house at 3367 Aztec Road and sold it with the proceeds going to the building fund. The Neal C. Capels held a $50 per person catered oriental dinner with the proceeds of that going to the building fund. Almost everyone was involved and sufficient funds were raised.

The Manzanita Chapel was completed on December 1, 1976. The first meeting was held on December 12, 1976 (Bloomington Ward Conference). The dedication was held on June 26, 1977 with Elder Richard J. Marsall (the Regional Representative) presiding. The dedicatory prayer was given by Kenneth J. Metcalf (President of the St. George Stake).
