HISTORY

Ronald Nelson opened the Big Dome Roller Rink sometime around 1963.

The roller rink was on the second floor of the Big Arch Building. It was above the Nelson Supply Company, so noise was a problem. The roller rink was mostly opened when the supply store was closed. The roller rink originally had a grill for cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. Later, the grill was changed to a snack bar and a place for buying soft drinks.

People associated with the roller rink included:
Ronald Nelson - Owner and operator of the building and the roller rink.
Wesley Alma Nelson - Ronald's son. Wes used to have a community roller rink in the old recreation center.
Lonnie Truman - First skate caddy.
Bill Miles - Second skating caddy. Ran the roller rink for a while.
Lee Stewart - Third skating caddy.
Ronald's children (Gary, Rick, Lonnie, Tammy and Cory) - Worked there at various times.

In 1985, Ronald Nelson sold the store and roller rink to WMS Famco.
