Gunlock Reservoir is the primary feature within Gunlock State Park.


DESCRIPTION

The reservoir backs up behind a 117-foot high earth-filled dam. It is about 2 miles long from north to south and a half mile wide, east to west.


HISTORY

Construction on the Gunlock Reservoir began on January 8, 1970. The Reservoir was officially dedicated on Nov. 21, 1970. The City of St. George built the project, which is now administered by the Lower Gunlock Reservoir Corporation, for about $1 million.

The Gunlock to Santa Clara pipeline was completed in 2004.
