BIOGRAPHY

Edward Leo Lyman was born in Delta UT in 1942. He attended the College of Southern Utah (CSU) and in May of 1966 received a Bachelor's Degree in History from Brigham Young University (BYU). He received a Master of Science Degree in History from the University of Utah in June of 1967. In 1969, he moved to Riverside CA and started teaching at North High School. While there, he became a local history buff. In 1981, he received a Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. He taught at California State University, Riverside and at the Victor Valley College (where is Emeritus Professor of History). After 17 years in Victor Valley CA, he moved to Silver Reef UT in 2004. He continues to be a very active historian here in the southwest. In 2007, he took over as the Utah State Director of the Old Spanish Trail Association (OSTA) from Col Al Matheson. Dr. Lyman continues to reasearch, write, and is a popular lecturer.
