HISTORY

Rex & Cleo Nelson raised their family in this home. It was owned by Rex's mother, Euphemia "Famie" Miles Nelson Whipple Prince. Famie lived in the east side of the house and Rex & Cleo's family lived in the west side.

Until the mid-1950s, the lot to the east of this home (to 400 East) was vacant excpept for a small wooden garage. The garage was removed sometime around 1952. Rex Nelson raised over 200 chickens on that vacant lot. One summer during the late 1940s, there was a flash flood and the chickens drowned. All those dead chickens floating in knee-deep water with a baking sun overhead left quite a stinking mess.

Famie Nelson had an area of white grapes near the east side of the home. Those were really good grapes.

There was a small laundry building just north of the northeast corner of the home. It held a washing machine. The laundry was then hung on a clothesline on the western side of that building.
