HISTORY

The Mathis home was referred to in early records as a "rather pretentious home", probably due to the fact that John Mathis was a carpenter and his family was fairly well-off in Switzerland.

The large living room and dining room area served as the first dance floor in St. George.

BIOGRAPHY

John Mathis was a carpenter and farmer. He assisted in building many of the first buildings in St. George.
