    Old Spanish Trail Association Business Meeting
    Community Room A downstairs at the St. George Library, 88 West 100 South
    Hopefully we can formalize our local organization to a greater extent.
    Dr. Leo Lyman will speak on Jedediah S. Smith, the actual founder and
        original explorer of the middle segment of the Old Spanish Trail,
        from our area to Needles, California - where Father Francisco Garces'
        portion of the trail heads west to San Gabriel, California.
        Padres Dominguez and Escalante naturally blazed the eastern trails
        between Utah and New Mexico.
    If it can be arranged, chapter members interested in meeting at 5:30 at
        the Maverick Service Station just west of Bluff St. and south of
        the mesa where the airport is, can be guided to what some of us
        think is an authentic rock inscription of a member of Smith's 1826
        journey through this area. 
    At the meeting, we will also get further details about the BLM trail
        steward training program being held at St. George, Mesquite and
        Kanab in September of this year, which many of us wish to become
        involved in.
